Our Roots are in the Delta

Four generations of Seymour women.

In front of the Original Farmhouse are four generations of maternal history.  Dorothy E. Beck is in the arms of her great grandmother Kate Boyd. Her mother, Dorothy Seymour Beck, stands to the left. Grandmother Mabel Seymour, stands impressively behind. Mabel's husband Arthur was the first owner of the Ranch, When he died unexpectedly, she gave it to her three children, Harry, Dorothy and Arthur.

Billy and Dorothy Beck

Bill Beck built the original Farm House in 1920 for his bride Dorothy and reclaimed the swamp land into a fertile farm. He grew zinnias and sugar beets, winter wheat and feed corn.

When he retired, neighboring tenant farmers grew tomatoes, corn, alfalfa and other field crops.

Willard (Bill) and Dorothy (Becky) Wheeler returned to the Ranch from their home in Southern California where they had raised three daughters, Sarah, Kate, & Caroline. All three sisters married their husbands in the garden -- fulfilling the vision of their grandmother who designed the landscape with weddings in mind. Here, Bill and Becky sit in the shade of a parasol at Sarah's wedding to Nat.

The Wheeler Sisters, Sarah, Kate and Caroline, fourth generation stewards of this property, see a future where the Ranch continues as a gathering place for family and friends.  Where we can connect and re-connect with ourselves and those we hold dear.
